MELVYN DOUGLAS MEADOWS

Melvyn Douglas Meadows

passed away to be with the Lord on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the age of 80. He was born on April 24, 1940 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Earl and Elizabeth Meadows. Melvyn served as the Superintendent of the City of Canton's Sanitation Department from 1983 to 2009. He was also a manager at the former R & J Furniture Company. Melvyn was a member of Life Ministries Church. He graduated from Canton McKinley High School, Leadership Stark County and attended Stark State College. Melvyn loved his family very much and was very active. He was an avid bowler and tennis player. He was a Booster of McKinley High School Athletics and served as the Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and the President of the McKinley Senior High School Booster Club. Melvyn was also active in civic affairs, serving as a board member of Planned Parenthood, Habitat for Humanity, and was Chairman of the Board for ABCD Inc. for many years.

In addition to his parents, Melvyn is preceded in death by his daughter Simone Renee Meadows, sister Mary Earlene Boyd, brothers Carlos, Michael, Tommie, and Earl Meadows. He is survived by his daughters Lisa Meadows-Madison (Stow, OH), Kimberly Meadows (Canton, OH), brother Freddie Meadows (Canton, OH), sister Christine Baity (Canton, OH), and special friend, Valerie McGuire (Canton, OH). Melvyn has five grandchildren; Kiera Arnold, (Monroe, GA), Courtney Meadows (Canton, OH), Kalil Petties (Dayton, OH), Ricky and Jaelin Madison (Stow, OH) along with four great grandchildren; Harley and Levi Arnold (Monroe, GA), Ezekiel Petties (Dayton, OH) Aiden Flickinger (Canton, OH) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11 am at Life Ministries. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
