MICHAEL J. "MIKE"
Mike was born on July 12, 1963 in Abington, PA. He attended Archbishop Wood High School and Drexel University, where he also worked for several years at the Student Center.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bartholomew and mother, Margaret "Peg". He is survived by his loving wife, Marie (nee Rodkey), and five sisters, Mary (Edward DiCenzo), Maureen (Ronald Theis), Margaret (James Wright), Marie (John Frye), Monica (Dave Maletz) and several nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, and with the many friends he made at Drexel and New Wave Café in Queen Village.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 28th, from 6 to 9 P.M., at CIEPLINSKI FUNERAL HOME, 1018 S. 2nd St., Phila., and from 10 to 11 A.M., on Thursday, August 29th, at St. Philip Neri Church, 218 Queen Street, Phila. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mike Faherty to Catholic Charities, and St. John's Hospice, Philadelphia.

I'm so glad I was able to reconnect with Mike this year - and it only confirmed that Mike truly was one of the good guys. My heart aches for all his family and friends - of which there were so many.

Mike was my friend and neighbor for 25 years. He was a fabulous guy with a great heart, a superb sense of humor and and all round top notch man. Hes passing is so incredibly sad.

Mike Whitey was proud of his fraternity Pi Kappa Phi and his grade school St Joseph's School In Warrington, PA. Whitey had a strong loyal conviction to his beliefs and friends from what I witnessed.
I remember how proud he was when only he and I knew the meaning of the Immaculate Conception while debating with fellow fraternity brothers. He was so insistent and proud of that knowledge. He attributed that to our education legacy of St Joseph's. We were fraternity roommates in 1983 and both alumni from St Joseph's. He would always be free to share those scarce things we needed in college and offer any favor that could help us

I worked with Mike at Drexel for many years. We became friends and spent many nights hanging out at the faculty club and occasional lunches and some fun group nights out dancing on Delaware Ave. The world is a little less fun without him.

Mike blessed me with his friendship over the past twenty years and is the closest person to a sibling. There are people we are fortunate to have in our lives who help us be better people, place others before themselves and strive to find the positive in everyone. Mike was that person and the world is a lesser place without him.
Selfishly, I'm grateful to have spent time with him and Marie a few weeks ago and spoke with him briefly last week to share he is loved and always will be.

While I had not been in touch with Mike in recent years, we worked closely over many years at Blackboard. Consummate professional with no ego and lots of collaboration. I REALLY enjoyed every single interaction with Mike. He will be missed.
