Michelle D. Lund

Longtime Alaska resident Michelle Lund, 53, passed away of natural causes in her home in Wasilla, Alaska. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at 3 p.m., at Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home, 11621 Old Seward Hwy. in Anchorage, Alaska. Michelle was born on Aug. 23, 1961, in Lompoc, Calif., to Nancy and Dennis Lund. She attended high school in Alhambra, Calif. Michelle came to Alaska in the early 1980s, moved to Texas for two years, and returned to Anchorage for several years before purchasing a home in Palmer, Alaska. She lived in Palmer for 20 years; as her health began to deteriorate she moved to a Wasilla senior complex and was able to receive some of the necessary assistance for her care. Michelle was baptized in the Catholic faith. She did not attend church often but held a firm belief in God. Michelle had a great love for animals and always had a dog, as well as many odd pets. The special animals in her life were Buck, the horse she owned as a young girl, and Henrietta, her dog who was a great companion for many years. Michelle enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was a wiz at Scrabble. Her family states, "Michelle had a kind and generous heart as well a quick witted humor that was always on the mark." Michelle is survived by her mother, Nancy Grant of Anchorage; sister, Jane Pavia and brother in law, Gene Pavia and nephews, Adam, Alex and Aidan Pavia of Anchorage; and brother, Scott Lund of Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Michelle's memory be made to National Alliance for Mental Illness Anchorage Affiliate, 144 W 15th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99501.
