Morgan Stacy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Morgan Bruce Stacy, 74, was born September 23, 1950, and passed away August 10, 2025. He is survived by a son and a daughter; his sister, Julia M. Stacy; his cousin, Sharon; a nephew and grand-nephew; his stepdaughter, Casey; and many step-grandchildren. MB was predeceased by his wife of 27 years, Dianna McKey Stacy; his loving parents, Mavis W. and Tatum R. Stacy; his brother, Donald R. Stacy, and nephew, Justin D. Stacy, both gone far too soon; and Don's wife Meredith Stacy.

As a young man, when his children were little, MB was a good drinker, a good friend, and the life of the party. He was universally loved and lived his life working to tell the greatest story ever told. As time went by, MB's alcoholism caused many of those friendships, and some family relationships, to break.

MB stopped drinking in the early 1990s and stayed sober for over three decades. He worked to make amends to many he hurt in the years when his children were growing up. His regrets haunted him. He became a devoted husband and a sponsor to many in A.A. He found peace there, and he knew true love. His ashes are beside his sweetheart's now, in the home they shared.

Through it all, MB was a charming teller of tall tales, and the tallest would compete with Mt Everest in height. He shared laughter, even in dark days, and his friendship became a treasure to many, once again.

MB left this world as an agnostic, and he has his answers now. Those of us who loved him are happy that he's at peace. We're remembering the tales he told us over the years.

His son witnessed all the fish. They were immense and he released them all, unharmed. Those tales were true.

I remember when I was probably five years old, and Dad had a plastic blue canoe, and he would take me fishing in the lakes and streams of New Hampshire. He taught me to respect, and LOVE, the quiet beauty of nature. We live in an eternal springtime, in my memory. He caught a chain pickerel as long as I was tall. He showed me how it was struggling to breathe, out of the water. He asked "should we let it go?" and I said YES! He gently let the beautiful fish swim away, and told me how it would have more babies just like it, and this would always be a good place to fish.

It was a state record, and he knew it. I watched him release more than one.

He was a GOOD father to me, and I will always remember the lessons of those days, in the blue canoe.
