Nancy McGuire Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 3, 2024.
Nancy K McGuire, 74, passed away on October 30, 2024, in New York, NY. Born on August 4, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia, Nancy lived a vibrant and fulfilling life marked by her sharp wit, profound love for family and animals, and a deep-rooted passion for football.

Nancy attended Dykes High School in Atlanta and furthered her education at the University of Georgia, where she cultivated her lifelong support for the Georgia Bulldogs. Her professional journey in the reinsurance industry spanned several prestigious firms including Commercial Union, AIG, and Lloyd's of London. Nancy concluded her career on a spirited note, bartending at Tony Roma's and New Haven Pizza & Pasta Company in the Village, where she was a beloved figure.

A dedicated fan of both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Nancy's enthusiasm for football was contagious. She was also an avid reader and a staunch supporter of the New York Public Library. Her personal life was enriched by her relationships with her sister, Julie A. Huffman and her husband Timothy, and brother, Michael C McGuire. She was preceded in death by her parents, John J McGuire and Dorothy E McGuire.

In keeping with her wishes, Nancy requested no formal services. She hoped that those who knew her would instead find joy in recalling cherished memories shared with her. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Nate's Honor Animal Rescue in Bradenton, Florida, a cause close to her heart due to her beloved fur niece, Renny.

Nancy's legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

Nan, hard to believe that have been gone on this first birthday without you. Wish you could have spent time at your beloved beach but the sun would not allow it. Will always remember how you pointed out the "Bushy Trucks" whenever an overgrown landscape vehicle came by.

Nancy was the RA at UGA - Brumby Hall when I came as a freshman. We immediately became friends. I remember playing bridge all night long, visiting her in Atlanta and NYC. We always laughed. A donation was made to her charity of choice in memory. My friendship with Nancy was a blessing in my life.

Everyone loved Nancy. She was a smart, enthusiastic broker working at Intere. I was box clerk for 1792 Syndicate at the New York Insurance Exchange.
