Norman Foster Obituary

Foster, Norman P. Age 71, of Chanhassen, passed away May 10th at home surrounded by family after an extended illness with cancer. He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota April 2, 1935 to Roy and Helen Foster. He graduated with high honors from the University of South Dakota in 1958 with a degree in accounting. He joined the accounting firm KPMG LLP in 1958, becoming partner in the Minneapolis office in 1971. He served 25 years with KPMG LLP providing audit, accounting, and management consulting services primarily to the insurance industry. In 1986, he joined AFLAC Inc. of Columbus, Georgia as Chief Financial Officer. He retired in 2004 as Executive V.P. Corporate Finance. He was a member of the board of directors of the Georgia Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association. He also served on the boards of directors of the South Dakota and New Mexico life and health insurance guaranty associations. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 49 years – Cleone; brother, Jerry; sons, Dave, (Kim), Mark, (Karen), Mike, (Melissa); daughter, Lisa (Rick) Halvorson; grandchildren, Paul, Jordan, Breanna, Kacie, Jeff, Kalley, and Alex, and nieces and nephews. Memorial Service, Monday, May 15, 2006 at 11:00 A.M., Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 2020 Coulter Boulevard, Chanhassen, MN (952- 934-5659). Memorial Visitation, Sunday from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie, MN (1/2 Mile S. of Hwy. 5 on Eden Prairie Rd.) Private family interment. I am so sorry to hear that your husband, father left this world. I did not actually know him, but, through his son Mike and his wife Melissa, know the kind of man he must have been. Our children show love, nurturing and kindness because they received the same from their parents. Those are qualities Mike and Melissa have always shown. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
