MARTIN, Bertram T. 86, of Marblehead, MA died Sunday, October 31, 2010 in Tampa FL. He was predeceased by his wives Jane Wilson Martin (2007) and Allene Benners Martin (1967), both of Marblehead, MA. He was the father of the late Bert Martin and his wife Marsha of Tampa, FL, Tom Martin and his wife Annette of Melrose, MA, and Allene Myers and her husband Jamie of Tampa, FL. He was the stepfather of Jim Hulbert and his wife Jane of Hinsdale, IL, Don Hulbert of Marblehead, MA, and Mary Hulbert Redding of Marblehead, MA. He was also the grandfather of Carrie Fowler and her husband Jason, Bert Martin III and his wife Kathryn, Tom Martin Jr and his wife Meaghan, Alex Martin, and Anne Myers and step-grandfather of Sarah Hulbert, Henry Hulbert, Katherine Redding, and James Redding. Bert was born on February 23, 1924 in Middlesboro, KY. He graduated from Culver Military Academy, Culver, IN. Class of 1941 and attended Dartmouth College until joining the Army during World War II. He served in the 10th Armored Division under General George Patton, fighting in the famous Battle of the Bulge in 1944. After the war, he joined Martin Manufacturing Corporation, manufacturers of elastic webbing, serving as President until his passing this year. Bert was a member of the Eastern Yacht Club of Marblehead. He enjoyed summers in Marblehead and Martin Island, Little Sebago Lake, ME., where he could be found driving his 1937 Chris Craft mahogany runabout. A private ceremony will be held in Tampa, FL for family at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Martin-Wegner Scholarship Fund, Rollins College - Gift box, P.O. Box 864168, Winter Park, FL 32886-4168.
