Alma Fawcett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 5 to Oct. 11, 2020.
Alma Ann Fawcett (née Pedri)

Desert Hot Springs - Alma Ann Fawcett (née Pedri), 94, passed away on September 30, 2020 in Anaheim, CA. She was born to parents Angeline and Romano on February 15, 1926 in Hurley, WI, where she was raised and attended local schools.

In August, 1947, she married Harold Samuel Penrose of Hurley, and together they had three sons: Wayne, Dennis, and Jeffrey. The family relocated to the Los Angeles area in 1962, settling in Reseda where she worked in retail, eventually becoming a medical records transcriber at a local medical center. After the untimely passing of her beloved Harold in 1969, she settled into a life of work, ballroom dancing and travel.

In 1983 she married Robert (Bob) Charles Fawcett, also of the Los Angeles area, whom she'd met at a dance hall, and shortly thereafter moved to Union, OR. Both retired, they lived there several years before pulling up stakes and buying an RV which they drove across the country before settling in Desert Hot Springs, CA, where they joined the parish of St. Elizabeth of Hungary church. Active in the community, Alma did readings at Sunday services, volunteered at local organizations and enjoyed knitting and arts and crafts. After Bob's passing in 2010, she remained active in the church and community. Throughout her life, she enjoyed food and cooking Italian favorites such as polenta with sausages, canederli, spaghetti, lasagna, and her own version of a Cornish miners' dish, pasty pies.

Alma is survived by sons Denny and Jeff, son-in-law George Haas, grandchildren Robert Penrose and Jennifer Piacentine, three great grandchildren, and several nephews.

Along with her parents and husbands, Alma was preceded in death by eldest son Wayne Harold Penrose, daughter-in-law Karen Penrose, sister Delia Zarzyski, brother Albert Pedri, half-brother Hank Pedri, and half-sisters Mary Pretti, Madeline Paternoster and Annie Bortoluzzsi.

Funeral services are pending.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Saint Francis Home in Santa Ana, CA.
