Terrance Mattson Obituary

Terrance B. Mattson
LOCKLOCK, Nev. - Terrance Brewer Mattson, age 66, went to meet his heavenly father on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2997. He was born May 21,1940, and died Feb. 28, 2007.
He was born in Montpelier, Idaho, to Eldon and Dayle Brewer Mattson, the eldest of six children. He went to school in St. Charles and graduated from Fielding High School. He went on to own and operate Mattson Machinery/John Deere Dealership.
He loved building and repairing things. He took pride in his work whether it was welding, carpentry, working with formica or fabricating iron projects. He built his own six bedroom, two-story house in St. Charles, Idaho. He spent many years in road construction and the mining industry. Up until his death, he was project coordinator for L & I Fence Construction in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Terry loved to travel and see new places. He had a love for camping and flying. He was also a problem solver and thrived on a challenge. He would come up with a solution, no matter how difficult or frustrating the problem might be. He had a heart as big as the whole outdoors and was always available to lend a helping hand or shoulder to anyone who needed it.
He especially loved being with his family and spending time at his property up Jacob's Canyon. Family meant more to Terry than anything else. He was married to Mary Martens in 1995 and until the day he died, she was the love of his life. He was very proud of all his children and could often be heard bragging to anyone who would listen about how great all their accomplishments were and how well they were doing with their choices. He is in a much better place now but those he left behind will miss him dearly as we reflect back on many, many wonderful memories of our time with him.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of Lovelock, Nevada, and seven children, Mick (Lott) Crockett of Montpelier, Idaho, Terresa Hottell and John (Alexis) Mattson, both of Winnemucca, Nevada, Lorie (Scott) Hennings of Nounan, Idaho, Shane (Andrea) Mattson, Crystal (Jarred) Christensen of Montpelier, Idaho, and his adopted son, Jay Sanford of Lovelock, Nevada, his motherm Dayle Mattson of St. Charles, Idaho and West Haven, Utah; and five brothers and sisters: Marilyn (Gary) Payne, Reed (Jeanine) Mattson, Chelane (Thayne) Hansen, Brad (Cindy) Mattson, and Lynne (Dennis) Kunz. He was also the proud grandpa of14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Terry was preceded in death by his father and two great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Cowboy.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, at 1 p.m. in the St. Charles LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with family at Matthews Mortuary on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 pm. The interment will be in the St. Charles Cemetery.
The family suggests that donations be made in Terry's name to Reno Cancer Foundation, 77 Pringle Way, Reno, Nev. 89502

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Mary his wife, and to Terry's children in the loss of one very Special Person. Terry and I grew up together and were like brother and sister and have kept in contact. I certainly feel a void in my life by his death and wish the family much comfort and now just feed on the wonderful memories of a Special husband and father. Good bye for now old Buddy we will meet again.
