Oliver Wycliffe Podmore Mar. 24, 1928 - June 22, 2011 Resident of El Cerrito On June 23, 2011 Oliver W Podmore of El Cerrito passed away at the age of 83. Oliver was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1928, he worked for the Edmonton Transit System as machinist until the age of 31. In 1959 Oliver moved to El Cerrito, California and worked as a Tool and Die machinist for several companies till he retired from Rheem in October of 1990. Oliver will sadly be missed by his sister (Olive Pekar and Mike Pekar), sister in-law (Stella Podmore) his nieces, great nieces nephews and great nephews. As well as his extraordinary friends the Chow family. Oliver was predeacesd by his parents William and Josephine Podmore, brothers John and Mance Podmore. Oliver had a passion for Gymnastics and was well known for his roller skating act Thrills on Wheels, which he performed in Canada and California. A celebration of Oliver's life will be held on Friday July 01, 2011 from 2pm to 6pm at the Veterans Hall of El Cerrito 6401 Stockton Ave. We look forward to seeing Oliver's friends, neighbours and past performers of Thrills on Wheels. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Stroke Association.

Oliver was a fun loving soul. I have fond memories of him showing me some basic roller skate maneuvers when I was young. He enjoyed sharing stories on his visits to Richmond BC and usually stayed with my Grandparents Howard and Dorothy Stewart.

Ollie was one of my childhood favourite family friends. He visited my grandparents Howard and Dorothy Stewart and taught me some basic gymnastic moves. I fondly remember his good nature and enjoying a laugh :)

Oliver appeared on my TV show "Sidewalks Entertainment" in the late 80's. His act, Thrills on Wheels, was our first guest on our debut show. He was a member of the production crew for several years. The last time I saw him was a couple of years ago at Burger King in El Cerrito. He meant a lot to me, and he was one of the reasons why the TV show was a success. Thank you Oliver for gracing us with your life.
