Pastor James Howard Coy age 64 of Blairsville passed away peacefully on Saturday January 22, 2022 at his home following an extended illness. Pastor Coy was born on March 16, 1957 in Detroit, MI., the son of the late Kenneth William Coy and the late Betty Jean Clark Coy. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War. He served faithfully as a Calvary Chapel Pastor for over forty years and loved every minute of it. Being a pastor has allowed him to witness Christ transform others as they grow in relationship with their mighty Savior. To him that was the best part. If you knew Jim, he would have told you to, “Meet me in Heaven”. Imitate Christ, love Jesus and live solely for Him. Jim was an amazing example of doing just that.
Jim was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He cherished every moment with his family and made so many rich memories that will last a lifetime for those around him. He is loved and cherished and very missed.
Surviving Mr. Coy are his loving wife and best friend of forty two years, Theresa Keller Coy, three daughters and sons in law, Melissa and Timothy Amatangelo of Greenville, SC., Michelle and William Venezia of Chattanooga, TN., Melanie and Ryan Borkan of Royal Palm Beach, FL., two brothers Charles Coy of Pontiac, MI., Robert Coy of Pompano Beach, FL., two sisters and brothers in law, Janet and Steve Schneider of Tampa, FL., Barbara and Bruce Jones of Columbiaville, MI., ten grandchildren, Jimi A., Logan A., Elizabeth A., Vincenzo V., Verenna V., Salvino V., Zion B., Judah B., Levi B., and Eden B., several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A Celebration of James life will be held on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm from Calvary Chapel Murphy with Pastor Trent Abling officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray expenses in his memory at the following go fund me account https://gofund.me/5fb52f67. I met Jim @ a funeral I attended of a friend's parent. Jim provided a wonderful service and as it was concluding, he has an alter call...I had never witnessed anyone having the courage to do that. A few people did surrender to God however while we walked out together, there was one women who gave him the finger and suggested for him to do something vulgar. He looked at me with that boyish grin and said, "I guess ya can't please them all". Jim wanted everyone to know Jesus.
He later managed an apartment complex in Coral Springs Florida where I was an officer.
During a down time in my life, he prayed with me and was encouraging; told me to never hesitate to stop by there.
Jim was a great and very authentic man.

My husband john and I met Pastor Jim and Teresa in Calvary chapel Royal oak Michigan in the 90´s. I remember his teaching was so inspirational. I loved his ministry. We were part of the children´s ministry and also part of the evangelism team. We were so blessed to be a part of this growing church. I would like to say to Teresa that we love you and you will be in our thoughts. Contact me if you want. It would be nice to reconnect again.we love you!

We really enjoyed Pastor Jim’s stories and humor in every message! What an incredible example of being Jesus’ servant. He was willing to help out, no matter the circumstance. We are honored to have been a part of Calvary Chapel in Murphy for our time living there. God be with his family and friends that will be painfully aware of his absence. We know that he is in paradise with his precious Savior!!!
