Patricia Franks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 22, 2025.
Patricia S Franks UPPER Patricia Sue (Lewis) Franks passed away on August 20, 2025, peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Patricia was born February 12, 1950, to Estelle & Ross Lewis. She was their 3rd daughter, joining older sisters Myra and Martha and later joined by their brother Tommy. She would start school just down the street at Heights Elementary, graduating Texas City High School in 1968.

After graduation, Patricia, known as Pat to most folks, would work for the local telephone company, and in 1970 she would marry James C. Franks after first being introduced to him on a blind date, arranged by her niece Debi. They would settle in Dickinson, TX, first living in a small apartment on Dickinson Bayou before buying the home where they would raise their sons Michael and Jason.

Over the next 30 years they would both be active in their church and in their community. Patricia dedicated her time to being a mother, homemaker, youth minister and coach before returning to finish her college studies at University of Houston - Clear Lake.

After completing her teaching certification in 1988, Mrs. Franks would begin teaching the 6th Grade at Pine Drive Christian School. She would then follow these students in their growth and in the growth of the school, adding a grade each year until she guided those students to the first graduating class of Pine Drive Christian School in 1996, an accomplishment she cherished not for herself, but for the achievements of the students she taught those years and in the years after. Being a teacher was her dream and her passion, and she kept in touch with many of her former students over the years.

Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, and faithful servant to the Lord. She was married to her husband James for over 30 years, and was not just a mother to her sons Michael and Jason, but to many other youth she impacted through her work at the church, at school, with her neighbors and as a surrogate mother to friends of her sons.

Later, she moved to North Texas to be closer to her family, settling happily into her next role as "Grandma Pat" to grandsons Mitchell & Ross and granddaughters Nicole & Juliette. To many others in her family, she was affectionally known as Aunt Pat or AP. Though she retired from teaching, she remained active by volunteering at the schools her grandchildren attended and to travelers at DFW Airport as an Ambassador.

Patricia Franks is preceded in death by husband, parents, and brother and is survived by the many families and friends who will miss her humor & smile dearly, though they are comforted by her life well lived and her faith in the Lord.

Arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, her family wishes that you share your memories of Patricia, Pat, Grandma, AP, Teach, Coach and friend. She would have wanted us to remember the smiles and embrace the tomorrows.

I met Pat through her sister Martha in our Bunco group. Pat always had a smile on her face and a joke to share. She will be missed by so many who called her friend. Her laugh was infectious. She was one of a kind.
