Patrick Connolly Obituary
Patrick passed away on April 8, 2025.
Born January 7, 1936, on Inis Oírr, Aran Islands, Co. Galway, Ireland. He had a quick wit and strong work ethic. After his service in the Irish Army concluded in 1957, he emigrated to Boston, MA. He lived and worked there for 10 years before moving to Oakland, CA in 1967.
Patrick provided for his family and brought the rural sensibility of his upbringing to the following generations. He worked at many jobs throughout his life but the one he enjoyed most, and was proudest of, was being a daideo to his 10 grandchildren. A perpetually available sitter; his home became a play house and a place of epic naps.
He enjoyed a good laugh, a card game or two, and time with those closest to him.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Bridget and his 7 older siblings. He is survived by his children Patrick Connolly (Elaine), Mary Kidd (Bill), and Christine Linnane (Austin); and his grandchildren Colm and Cahal Connolly; Liam, Maddie, Oliver, and Maeve Kidd; Kieran, Nora, Declan, and Bridget Linnane.
Liturgy Thursday April 17, 2025 at Noon followed by burial St. Mary Cemetery 4529 Howe Street, Oakland, CA 94611
