Patrick Howes Obituary
Of Herndon, VA, died on July 27, 2005, at Reston Hospital. He was born on November 24, 1949 in Dayton, OH, to the late Thomas V. and Loretta Clark Howes. Patrick earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from The Ohio State University in 1971 and his Master's degree in Communications from Purdue University in 1980. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1992 after 20 years of service. Patrick worked as a financial planner for the last 13 years, working for Merrill Lynch and Scott & Stringfellow. Father of Joshua P. Howes of Blacksburg, VA; Jonathan E. Howes of Pittsboro, NC, Kristina J. Miller of Memphis, TN, Deana E. Leinheardt of Denver, CO, Sarah K. Matzke of Murfreesboro, TN; brother of Thomas V. Howes of Tipp City, OH and Mary Ann Barbado of Beavercreek, OH. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at ADAMS GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, October 5, at 3 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. Family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Virginia Division, Inc., Northern Virginia Area, 124 Park St. S.E., Vienna, VA 22180.

A few times a year I think of what a wonderful man he was. I knew him in Germany
, we were both lieutenants and socialized a good bit.
Our wives were friends and we shared a lot of laughs. Later in life I stayed with him in DC while he was still in the Army and also as a Financial consultant.Pat .....I

I am so sorry that Pat is gone, but of course, he's not gone from our hearts. I've known him since we were students at Purdue University and we remained friends through the years. My deepest sympathies to family and friends; I will always miss him very much.
