Paul Albertson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 13, 2009.
Paul David Albertson June 27, 1952 March 4, 2009 Our beloved father, brother, son and friend unexpectedly passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in Whitehorse, Yukon, one of his favorite places in the world. He is survived by his loving mother Elizabeth Gray, his beloved daughters, Elizabeth and Jennifer (Grant) and cherished grandchildren, Alisha, Kassity and Jaxon, as well as his siblings Barbara (Peter), Graham (Sarah), twin sister Pat, and Nancy (Jack) along with numerous nieces and nephews and their beautiful families. Paul also considered his many close friends in the Yukon to be family and will be greatly missed by them all. He was predeceased by his infant son Paul Beaton Albertson, his father David Beaton Albertson and his most loyal friend of 17 years, Sheba. Paul's love of nature and animals touched every aspect of his life; from his work to his passions (art being one of his favorites). He was greatly respected for the work he did for the Saskatchewan, BC and Yukon governments. He was Director of the Emergency Measures Organization for the Yukon Government before taking early retirement, after which he pursued other endeavours, including his own printing business, Grandpa's Graphics Printing and Promotional Products. Paul had a very adventuresome spirit, which took him on many travels including pioneering in Sooke, BC, and later in Marsh Lake, Yukon. He applied himself wholeheartedly to everything he undertook, whether work or play. Paul was a true artist, with his camera, and with pencils, pastels and paints, capturing nature as he saw it. We love you, Dad! You may be gone but you will never be forgotten. Donations in lieu of flowers can made be made to any SPCA or to the World Wildlife Federation. We will be celebrating his life in his two favorite places, on March 11, 2009 in the Marsh Lake Community Hall, 3-5 pm, and on March 15, 2009 at 2440 Sooke Road, Victoria, BC, 3-6 pm. Please feel free to bring your stories, pictures and memories as they will all be shared and greatly appreciated. Our family would also like to send a heartfelt thank you for the constant love, compassion and help from his many close friends during his illness and to his family during our time of sorrow. Your kindness will be remembered always.

I received a copy of the Luther College magazine a couple of months ago and saw that Paul had passed away. It has been awhile, but I went to school with him at Luther.

One story that I have always remembered about Paul was at a football game. The homecoming queen asked me to escort her on to the field at half time. I said no because I knew that there would be a great amount of fun by others at her with the introduction. Paul was asked next. He said yes and calmly walked on to the field with the young lady's arm around his. Sure enough, there was things said but it did not bother neither Paul or Heather. He escorted her off the field with the same manner as her brought her on.

I always wished that I had done the thing that Paul was so willing to do.

I wish his family the best.

Sincerely,

John Hukee '70

We wish to extend our sincere sympathy in the loss of Paul. I will always treasure the summer of 1956, I spent with the Albertson family at Lake Katepwa when you lived in Regina. Paul & Pat were about 5 and Nancy a baby. Barbara,- the fun we had. Graham spent to most of that summer in the hospital. That wonderful dog you had, Kie. Betty I think of that summer with you often.
