Paul CURRIE Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Jan. 17, 2015.
CURRIE, Paul Douglas
September 4, 1952 - January 8, 2015
A loving, funny, courageous, humble and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, son- and brother-in-law, and friend has been taken from us far too soon. Blues guitarist extraordinaire, whose true loves were his wife of 38 years, Patricia (Cox), and their two daughters, Lauren (Blake) and Stacey (Joshua). Paul was predeceased by his loving parents, Howard and Connie, and mother-in- law Laurie Cox. Along with his wife and daughters, his siblings Nancy, Colleen, Claudia, Janet, Ian and their spouses, his in- laws Bill Sr., Bill Jr., and Lesli Cox, and numerous nieces and nephews are left to grieve. Paul's laughter, love, strength and compassion will live on in all of us. A private celebration of Paul's life will be held at a future date. Donations to the BC Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.

It is nearly a year. Condolences and thoughts to the family of Paul, who lost a wonderful husband, father and brother far too soon. I was fortunate to meet Paul through his sister Claudia. Light and prayers to you all.

I was saddened and sorry to hear of Paul's passing this week. Though we had not seen each other in 45 years I can still remember his smile and his good nature all these years after our high school friendship. (St. Joe's)
It seems like he became a good father, and continued to be an all round good guy. My condolences go to his family.

Paul was a good friend in our early high school years and although we did not stay in touch over the years he will be greatly missed. There are so many great stories and memories that will always remind me of him

Paul was such a nice man. I only met him a coup,e of times and both times all of his (less quieter) sisters were also there and I just loved watchIng his amusement and love as he watched them, while at the same time openly marvelling at how much they loved him. You Currie's are a nice family.

Paul was a gentle, loving giant who elevated us all. Hearts are breaking from coast-to-coast for Patty, Lauren, Stacey and all the Currie siblings.

Our deepest sympathies Patricia for you , your daughters and the rest of Paul's family. We knew about Paul from his sister Nancy, who adored him.We had the pleasure of listening to some of his music he sent to us and playing wickedly good scrabble games on line.Such a loss for his family and friend. He touched all who loved him.
