Age 81, of Mount Lebanon , A man filled with kindness, gentleness and decency passed away from this life suddenly on April 4, 2017. He was born December 2, 1935. Beloved husband for 54 years of the late Patricia L. Slater; beautiful father of Paul Jay (Sheila) Slater of Cranberry, PA, Mary Lou (Tony) Price, of Mount Lebanon and Mark P. Slater of Lakewood, OH; cherished grandfather of Katie (Mike) Morlano, Steven, Jack and Philip Slater. Paul was born and raised as a youth in Homestead, PA and later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in Metallurgical Engineering. He worked at the Homestead and Edgar Thompson Steel Works for a combined 28 years. Paul later owned and operated Clearpool Services and Slater, Inc. from his Mount Lebanon home. He spent a lifetime honoring others above himself. Paul was a quiet man who lead by example rather than words. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him well. Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon SUNDAY 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Bernard Church Monday morning at 10. Interment Mount Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PKD Foundation at PKD cure.org or Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh, 1816 Locust Street, Pgh., PA 15219. www. laughlinfuneralhome.com.

Paul will be missed by so many, including me. His quiet demeanor, gentle nature and innate kindness were obvious to all. As he goes to be with Pat, I am sure, over time, the memories of his life and love will help to ease the loss we all feel today. My sympathy to the entire Slater clan.
