Pearl Berkowitz

Berkowitz, Pearl (Nee Stahl) Born in Milwaukee March 11, 1918, passed away December 5, 2010, age 92 years, of Whitefish Bay. Beloved wife of the late Nathan L. Berkowitz for 69 years. Dear mother of Joan (the late Kal) Eisenberg, Susan (Cary) Silverstein, and preceded in death by daughter Phyllis Stahl-Berkowitz, parents Sam and Helen Stahl, and her sister Muriel Stahl. Fond sister-in-law of Pauline Berkowitz, the late Jean Kagan and the late Betty Platt. Loving grandmother of Daniel Schnur, Jonathan (Elisa) Schnur, Joshua (Vanessa) Peter, Lizl (Demetrius) Pace, Lesley Maness, Bradley (Cindy) Silverstein, Janet Eisenberg, Sharon (Lorne) Cytrynbaum, Daniel (Rose) Eisenberg; and 14 great-grandchildren. Pearl graduated from the University of Chicago. She was a President of Hadassah and led the Women's Division of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. She was an active member of Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun and the Wisconsin Society For Jewish Learning. The family recently endowed the Helen and Sam Stahl Center for Jewish Studies at UWM to be completed in 2011. Private graveside services will be held. The public is invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun, 2020 W. Brown Deer Rd., River Hills. Memorials to the Wisconsin Society For Jewish Learning, Pearl and Nathan L. Berkowitz Memorial Fund preferred.
