Peggy Kilgore Obituary
She was born on April 23, 1933, to Samuel and Patty Anderson on Dec. 22, 1951. She married her best friend, the Rev. Harold Kilgore, and together they made a wonderful life with five children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and a member of Esserville Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, the Rev. Harold Kilgore; parents, Samuel and Patty Anderson; sisters, Dora Anderson Wells, Lillian Anderson Watson and Myrtle Anderson Fleenor; and brothers, Noah Anderson, Monroe Anderson and Samuel Anderson.
Surviving are her children, Patti Stanley and husband Harold, Libby Rogers and husband Nick, Dr. James H. Kilgore Jr. and wife Amanda, David L. Kilgore and wife Debbie and Nancy Roberts and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Kelli Collins and husband Michael, Gary David McCarthy and wife Michele, Tyler Roberts, Blake Roberts, Jamie Kilgore, Clark Kilgore, Krista Rogers and Hailey Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Parker Collins and Katie Beth McCarthy; a sister, Betty Jo Kilgore and husband Bobby; four sisters-in-law, Hazel Kilgore, Zefa Kilgore, Ruby Anderson and Shirley Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was given great care by two loving friends, Bobbie Meade and Glenda Sturgill.
Funeral services for Peggy Kilgore will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, Va., with Dr. James H. Kilgore Jr., the Rev. David L. Kilgore and the Rev. T.J. McAmis officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise. Family graveside committal services and burial will be in the Wise Cemetery.
Sturgill Funeral Homes, 1621 Norton Road S.W., Wise, VA 24293, is in charge of arrangements.
