Peggy J. Nunes

Peggy J. Nunes, 80 years old, passed away on March 13, 2013 in Los Banos, CA. Peggy was born on March 11, 1933 in El Centro, CA. to Orrin and Lora Wagoner. Peggy grew up in Watsonville, CA. Peggy graduated from Watsonville High School in 1950. After high school she attended Hartnell College in Salinas, CA. where she excelled in shorthand and typing, she received a degree in business. Peggy began working for Manny Lawrence CPA as an Administrative Assistant where she worked for 25 years. She then went on to Ashcraft Pharmacy, finishing her working career at Chase bank where she retired in 2005 after 50 years. Peggy married George Nunes in 1952 in Watsonville, CA. They were happily married for 52 years. She enjoyed Bunco, bowling, sewing and ceramics. She loved going to Reno on the bus with all of her friends and playing video poker. Peggy's favorite thing was being the family cheerleader, she would travel with her family to many rodeos and team roping's supporting them from the stands. She truly enjoyed the family band that would play during the horse show at the Santa Cruz County Fair where she played the piano. Peggy was a kind, compassionate, and caring women who will be missed by her family and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband George Nunes, daughter Jeannie Witmer and brother Merle Wagoner, Peggy is survived by; her son Bill (Kim) Nunes Fallon Nevada, daughter Susie (Ed) Maciel Los Banos, CA, step daughter Judi Tessier Santa Cruz, CA, son in law Derek Witmer Watsonville, CA. Her sister Patty (Dick) Childs of Idaho, sister Doris Thurgood of Arizona, and brother Orrin Wagoner of Watsonville. Her grandchildren Greg Tessier, B.J. Nunes, David Maciel, Eddie Maciel, and Mikayla Witmer, her great-grandchildren Taylor Tessier, Nick Tessier and Haylie Maciel; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 11:00 am, Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main Street, Watsonville, CA 95076. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Patrick and Debra Carroll, www.avemariamemorialchapel.com. A private Burial will take place at a later date at the Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Agri-Culture in care of the Jeannie Witmer Memorial Scholarship Fund, 141 Monte Vista Avenue, Watsonville, CA 95076.
