Peter Jon Fuglestad

Peter "Pete" Fuglestad, age 59, passed away on August 18, 2025, in North Oaks, Minnesota. He went home to be with the Lord after battling carcinoid cancer for over a decade.

Born on October 1, 1965, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pete grew up with a deep curiosity about natural science and a passion that shaped both his personal and professional life. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota, in 1989, laying a foundation for a lifelong dedication to science and teaching.

Pete realized his love for teaching during the summer he worked at Camp Shamineau. Pete then decided to follow his calling as a science teacher at Stillwater Middle School, where he taught for 26 years before retiring in 2021. His enthusiasm for science was obvious; he inspired countless students with his hands-on approach. He taught through experiments and stories of his outdoor adventures. Pete made learning come alive.

Outside of work, Pete embraced the beauty of God's creation. He loved camping, astronomy, snake hunting, and fishing- being sure to take his children out on the boat with him. He had a passion for synthesizers, flying RC helicopters, and much more. Above all else, Pete cherished time spent with his family and never missed an opportunity to share his love of science with those around him.

Pete was a devoted husband to Denise and a proud father to Luke and Kelsey. He was a cherished son survived by Edson Vercel and Marcia Fuglestad. And a beloved brother to his siblings-four brothers and one sister; sharing many memories filled with laughter and adventure. He held close to the legacy of his grandparents: Edson and Clara Fuglestad, and Edwin and Rosella Pearson.

Pete's memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him; as a great son, husband, brother, father, teacher, and friend. May he inspire a love of learning and nature to all who were fortunate enough to know him. A Memorial Service will be held on September 5, 2025, at 03:00 PM at Waverly Gardens Chapel, 5919 Centerville Road in North Oaks. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, followed by refreshments after the memorial service.
