Rachel Cusick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2010.
Rachel Marie Cusick, age 12, of Dickson City, passed away early Saturday morning. Born in Scranton on September 30, 1997, daughter of Patrick and Laurie Schuler Cusick, Rachel Marie was about to begin the school year in 5th grade at Mid Valley Elementary School in Throop. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in South Abington Twp. Remembered for being so caring at such a young age, she always took care of others, especially her younger sister, Amanda. Growing up she loved all animals and most recently wished to build a rescue home for strays. She eventually wanted to have a job working with animals. She had a tremendous heart and exceptional sense of humor. She enjoyed working side by side with her mother at the Crown Flea Market in Eynon and also at her mother's new store, The Lollipop Lane, Olyphant. A loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, niece, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is also survived by her sister, Amanda Cusick, at home, her two half-brothers, C.J. Crespo, at home, and Oswald Crespo of Birmingham, Alabama, her paternal grandparents, Bill and Peggy (Nana) Jennings Cusick of West Scranton, her maternal grandparents, Jack and Linda Shafer of Mt. Cobb, a paternal great grandmother, Frances Hartnett, Scranton, a maternal great grandmother Donna Pendergraft, Pittsburgh, her aunts, Rebecca Nelson and husband Keith of Moscow and Kelly Ann Cusick of Scranton, her uncles, Rob Schuler of New York City and Tim Cusick of New York City, and great aunts and great uncles. Private funeral services will be conducted on Saturday in the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, West Scranton, with private interment to follow in the Cathedral Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-9:00PM at the funeral home. A memorial Mass for Rachel will be held at her father's parish church, on Saturday September 4th at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. A memorial service will also be held at the convenience of the family at a later date in the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Morgan Highway in South Abington Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for the Cusick family may be sent to NET Credit Union 1444 Lackawanna Avenue Olyphant, Pennsylvania 18447.
