Randy Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 23, 2025.
Randy Wayne Davis was born on July 25, 1951, in Tacoma, Washington. After courageously battling leukemia for many years, he passed away at the age of 73 on April 19, 2025.

Randy spent his childhood and school years in Tacoma, attending elementary, junior high, and high school there. He later joined the U.S. Coast Guard, where he formed some of his closest, lifelong friendships.

To know Randy was to know that family was the center of his world. As a boy, he was devoted to his mother, Joyce, and sister, Layne. Later, he poured his love into his own children, and eventually into his wife, Leann, and the children she brought into his life. His love extended to each and every one of his cherished grandchildren, and to his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and the spouses of his children. For Randy, family wasn't just important-it was everything. He lived as a perfect example of what it means to love, show up for, and support the people you care about.

But Randy's life can't be told without mentioning his second life's work: coaching. For nearly 40 years, he was a beloved football coach in the Puyallup area, most often alongside his cousin and best friend, Jeff. He mentored, encouraged, and helped shape the character of countless young men. He was "Coach" to many, and he was deeply loved in that role.

His legacy is written into the lives he touched-his loyalty, strength, compassion, and wisdom-a presence too meaningful for words. He will be profoundly missed and forever loved.

A celebration of Randy's life will be held on May 12, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Pioneer Park Pavilion in Puyallup. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in honor of Randy's brave and enduring fight.

He was a good friend of my Dad's (Lawrence "Larry"Edwards) and I'm glad I got to spend some time with him when he visited last year .We shared some laughs and some memories of the past. It was some hard news to find out and he will be missed here in California

Randy was a man above men. He gave of himself as very few can. Those who knew him were blessed. His legacy will continue through his children, grandchildren and all who knew him. He was greatly loved and he loved even greater.
Rest in peace Randy.

My condolences to all of Randy's family. Randy was very much loved in our family, befriending my brothers Jeffrey and Paul (and the rest of my family), who both served with Randy in the CG. I wish I could make it to his service but I will be out of town. I am grateful for having known him for 50 years.
