Ray Richard Haffner, 73

Muncie - Ray Richard Haffner, 73, of Muncie, died Tuesday evening, September 26, 2017 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born January 14, 1944 in Portland, IN and was the son of the late Paul Winfield & June Waniece (Boxell) Haffner.

Ray retired from the United States Postal Service as Supervisor of the Maintenance Department. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy and Army Reserves.  Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Fairlawn Church of Christ.

Ray is survived by his wife Sandra Fay (Coleman) Haffner of Muncie; a daughter Jennifer Jackson (Eric) of Greenwood; four grandchildren Shelby Jackson of Florida, Alex, Katherine, and Drew Jackson of Greenwood; two great-grandchildren Olivia and Bryson Spangler; brother Max Haffner (Jeanette) of Lafayette; brother-in-law and best friend Steve Coleman (Karen) of Yorktown; sister-in-law Annetta Hill (Don) of Muncie; a special aunt Norma Haffner of Yorktown; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Chad Haffner.

In honoring the wishes of Ray, there will be no public services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Garden View Funeral Home. Sincerest condolences to the Haffner family. I greatly appreciated Ray's friendship, and his many contributions to the Wea Tribe. May he have a smooth journey to the Spirit World.

Ray was a Shipmate who served God and country. He will be missed by all who knew him. Home is the Sailor Home from the Sea Home is the Soldier Home from the Hill
