Raymond Wolf Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 2 to Jul. 4, 2007.
TURBOTVILLE -- Raymond G. "Ray" Wolf Jr., 64, of Broadway Street, entered into heaven's gates Sunday, July 1, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family following an 18-month battle with cancer.
He was born March 5, 1943, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Raymond G. Wolf Sr. and Margaret Agnes (Smith) Moyer. On Sept. 7, 1962, he married the former Sherry D. Reynolds, and they celebrated 44 years of marriage.
He was a 1961 graduate of Lewisburg High School and served with the Air Force in Turkey during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.
Ray was the manager of the Lewisburg Hotel and corporate president until it was sold in 1984. He began working for his family at the hotel as early as the fifth grade. He later retired from ConAgra, Milton, and had worked earlier for Keystone Services in Sunbury. Since his retirement, he had been working at PPL as a security officer.
Ray loved remodeling projects around his home and was always willing to give his time to help others with their home projects. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed rides in the countryside. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, his most precious times were those spent with his grandsons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Heather Rene´e and David Hans of Turbotville; two grandsons, Harrison LaRue and Preston Ray Hans; one sister, Joanne Smith of Lewisburg; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Smith.
Friends are invited to call from 10 to noon Thursday at the East District Mennonite Church, Route 54, Turbotville, where the funeral will be conducted at noon with the Rev. Wilbur "Sam" Corderman, his brother-in-law, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to either Geisinger Hospice, North Academy Avenue, Danville, PA 17822, or East District Mennonite Church, c/o Ken Metzler, 31 Vertie Lane, Milton, PA 17847.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
