Rebecca Eady Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 15, 2007.
Mrs. Rebecca Ann Phillips Eady, age 70, of Elgin Crossroads, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at her home after battling cancer.

Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Terry Tipper and Phillip Eady will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, with David Cofield officiating.

Rebecca was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County. She spent a number of years as GA director at Bethel Baptist Church, Anderson. She spent her entire life being a homemaker and wife to her loving husband and three sons.

Rebecca will be well remembered for many things. "The Pillow Lady" is how her many friends at Bethesda Cancer Center will remember her. She made thousands of pillows and gave them to her fellow cancer friends all over North Alabama.

She was an excellent seamstress, making most of her children's and grandchildren's clothes for many years. She loved to take pictures of anything, but mostly her grandchildren. She will be most remembered as a loving wife to her husband, Joe. They were truly each other's soulmate, helpmate and best friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Pearlie Phillips.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 51 years, George J. Eady; sons, Jeffery Eady and wife, Suzy, Andy Eady and wife, Shelia, all of Rogersville, and Phillip Eady and wife, Alycia, of Hazel Green; brothers, Hiram "Sonny" Phillips, Dothan and Gary Phillips and wife, Kathlene, of Rogersville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rebecca also leaves behind her five grandchildren who were the light of her eyes, Jessica Eady, Audrey Belue and husband, Chad, Lindsey Eady, Dusty Eady and Kristen Eady.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Eady, Chad Belue, Andrew Myrick, Craig Kelley, Edgar Griggs and Max Scott.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronny Jones, Hoyt Stewart, Bill Hughes, Tommy Pass, Don Trousdale, Jack Paul and Terry Bacon.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation for all the gifts, cards, visits and prayers. A special thank you to Brenda Hice for all her help along with Good Samaritan Hospice for the thoughtful care of our Mom during this time.

Please consider memorials to the American Cancer Society, 104 S. Poplar St., Florence, AL 35630.

Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I have nothing but great things to remember about Becky. She and Joe went out of their way to see that the girls and boys of Bethel Baptist Church knew the Lord and had fun in doing so. So many good memories of all of the miles in the station wagon. She was an asset to the community and we were lost when she moved to Elgin, but I know that Elgin gained a great asset and she was always in our hearts here as she will still be. She raised 3 great boys that are carrying on her legacy of good. Rest for your work on earth is done.
