Father Gerry as we knew him was the first priest I met when I joined the Catholic faith. He was a teacher to me as well as our priest. He also assisted me in applying for an annulment so I could marry my current wife of 12 years. He was a friend as well as our Priest. He has never been forgotten in our family and was there when my wife was going thru her divorce. He helped her stay strong in faith and life. We miss him dearly.

Father Barrett gave me one on one instruction to become Catholic at the age of 17 at St. Helen Church in Pearland TX. In the days before any High School CCE program. In 1976...when I was baptized and 1977 when I was confirmed by him. He was a remarkable priest. He was so good and friendly to everyone. May the Lord give him rest and comfort in Heaven! Truly, a priest for All Seasons!

Fr Barrett was our priest back in the early 60's, his 2nd assignment. He WAS a wonderful person teaching us, the youth about the wonders of GOD and how we could service him better in becoming a priest or nun. He was kind and very understand, always teaching us to be better. He later in life got to marry me by the church in at Our Lady Guadalupe Church in Mission in 1981. He was still a loving wonderful priest with so much care and knowledge. I last saw Fr Barrett when he was Pastor at church in Port Isabel TX. Seeing him and knowing him from red red hair to blonde hair, it only showed he had Aged well in God's grace. I remember he joked about it and laughed but he knew life goes on even through the sadness . We are here for a shirt time and our life Begins with God in Heaven; that's our reward!! So rejoice Fr Barrett with him who is Greater for you have been an inspired person all through your life. We have lost a great loving faithful caring person. May the Lord Jesus Christ give you eternal rest and peace for you are my Angel in Heaven. Thank you for teaching me to love unconditionally . I love you and will miss you always Fr Barrett.

Father Gerry was a wonderful and kind man. His depths of kindness were unique and unbounded. He was always there for anyone who needed him, always there to offer comfort and support to others. There was no one quite like him. I know his spirit was strong and will find its way to heaven. There I hope he meets a golf course greener than the shores of Ireland. Though I know he has gone to a better place, he will be forever missed and cherished in our hearts. He gave me and my family more comfort, love, and peace than he ever knew. May his spirit and body rest in peace.
