Richard Burkhardt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2025.
Richard Bernard Burkhardt Jr., affectionately known as "Howdy" to most who knew him, passed away on August 15, 2025, at his home in Washington, PA. He was born on December 12, 1969, in Camden, NJ.

Howdy lived with a larger-than-life spirit, always eager to share kindness, laughter, and love with those around him. Though life wasn't without its challenges, he loved his family and especially treasured being a 'Pappy' to his grandchildren. He was a man of generosity, often lending a hand to anyone in need - whether putting on a roof, helping to rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina, or simply supporting his friends. He dreamed big, always had countless plans in motion, and was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back.

Though he faced many challenges with long-term illness, his resilience and spirit never wavered. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now free of suffering - and they'll always smile remembering his goofy personality and his love of Mike's Hard Lemonade.

Richard is survived by his children, Zachary (Jessica) Burkhardt, Tyler Burkhardt, and Brittany (Benjamin) Winters; and his six beloved grandchildren, Bently, Isaac, Greyson, Bellamy, Rosalynn, and Wesley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caroline Harrison-Burkhardt and Richard Burkhardt Sr.; his sisters, Amanda "Mandy" Guardarrama and Michelle "Shelly" Burkhardt; as well as many aunts and uncles.
