IDear Family; I had the good fortune of attending Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio, with Richard. In addition to lettering in all four sports, he was an active member of the Antonians Drama Club, the Generals Band, Boys Glee, General's Dispatch staff, Latin Club, student council, yearbook staff, and later the alumni association. He is remembered in class as, "A pleasure loving swain, to be a playboy is his aim." The Korean War was fresh in everyone's memory while in high school. Jet plane fighter pilots were the stars of the war, and every pilot was called an "Ace" whether he scored a kill or not. Dick took up the habit and referred to classmates often as, "Hey Ace, what's up?" He set an example for the rest of us. He always had a good word to say about his classmates, his coaches, and his teachers.

Great Memory when Dick took workers on University Village in Bowling Green....Me ,Dan & Jim for a week sailing and crabbing on his family's Skipjack on the Chesapeake Bay...never will forget that trip or "Coach" Richard!

Learning of this so late & yet it has saddened me so much...Dick (We called him "Coach" because he was) was and is one of the 3 most special mentors in my life in so many ways. Business...friendships...life lessons & how to treat family, friends & associates. He was firm but fair & treated people of all walks of life that entered his justly and with the respect they deserved...I will never forget him & still will think of him always & will continue to apply the "What would Coach do & think would be the right thing to do? " in my decisions going forward...it has been a wonderful guide in my life.. Condolences go out to all his friends from me and Betsy....He was & is a most pivotal part of our lives ...in a most positive way.......
