Richard "Dick" Heyman

Richard "Dick" Selby Heyman passed peacefully 1 January 2023 in St Petersburg, FL.

Dick was raised in Waterville and graduated Anthony Wayne High School in 1956 where he lettered in four sports and was an active member of the student government and later the alumni association. Dick graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and was an active member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Richard was an early developer of apartments in Bowling Green and was an active member of the business community and a member of the Elks Lodge.

His keen interest in history and renovation took him up and down the East Coast of the United States from Maine to Florida. He purchased, renovated, and operated the Castine Inn, Castine, Maine for many years with his family.

Richard had a wanderlust and loved travelling the world. He had a passion for sailing and from the time of his birth, he spent his summers on the Chesapeake Bay and later imparted his love of the water to his children and grandchildren. Even in his final years, when he could no longer sail, he lived in a home with a water view which brought him solace.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Lynne Faith Heyman and his parents Joseph and Virginia Heyman of Perrysburg. He is survived by his sister Sally Nelsen and children: Dana Marshall, Joe Heyman, Chet Heyman and Andrea Powers. Dick had 9 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild.

He will be lovingly remembered at the helm of his boat, with the wind in his hair and a smile on his face.
