Richard Glass Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2025.
Richard Peter Glass Jr. UPPER Richard P. Glass, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully at home in Texas City on Aug. 5, 2025. He was born on December 8, 1946 in Galveston. Richard was a 3rd generation BOI and 4th generation Texan.

As a young man, Richard joined the Marines and proudly served in Vietnam. In addition, he was employed for many years by AMOCO Chemicals and valued the friends he made there. An avid hunter and fisherman, Richard spent many hours fishing the waters from Galveston to Matagorda. He was able to instill in his sons and grandsons the joys and responsibilities of hunting and fishing as well as his love of the outdoors.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, Richard Glass, Sr., Mable Blythe Glass and step-mother, Anna Fry Glass, all of Galveston. He is also predeceased by his sister, Judith Jordan of Dickenson, and close cousin, Robert Benson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Some of his fondest childhood memories were "going up the country" to Dickinson where he and Robert rode horses and visited with extended family.

He is survived by sons, Richard P. Glass, III (Amanda) of Cypress, Texas and Ryan Fletcher Glass of Hitchcock. Richard was thrilled to spend time with his grandsons, Gage Paul, Richard Parker and Carson Fletcher Glass, all of Cypress. He also leaves his cherished niece and nephew, Brandie Luikart (Thad) and Jeff Jordan (Monica).

Richard will have a Celebration of Life on August 28 at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Wounded Warriors or a charity of your choice. woundedwarriorproject.org.
