We met with him in Colombia Cali, during 2008 Junior IWF World Weightlifting Championship. He was excellent friend for me during all championships. He was also like a father for me with his advices to me.
Dear Richard, Your heart soon will be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Dick and I were good friends. We were both guards on the Magnolia 1961 undefeated football team. He was a good man and will be missed. Raised by a good family. Rest in peace, Dick.

Stella and family, though I did not have the opportunity to know you well, Phil has always spoken highly of Dick (Richard) and we did have a dinner in Atlanta some years ago. Prayers for comfort for all of you. Jeanne Oneacre

It is with sadness that we hear of the passing of Richard. He and I were former fellows in hand surgery in Louisville, Kentucky at the practice of Kleinert-Kutz hand care center many years ago. It was always a pleasure subsequently to see Stella and Richard at our alumni meetings over the years following our fellowship. Please know that you are in our hearts and prayers during this sad time. It was a pleasure to have known him and what a wonderful legacy, he has produced. Tom Wolff.

I had the privilege and honor to work with Dr. Richard Herrick in Anchorage Alaska at the Alaska Native Medical Center at the Orthopedic clinic. I was his clinic CMA during our patient care. He taught me so much about orthopedics while working side by side with Dr. Herrick for over 4 years. He was very dedicated to his work and cared for all his patients in Alaska. He was also very passionate and caring about his world travels with the Olympics he and Stella was involved with. He would tell me stories about all the times they both travel together all over the World. To Dr. Herrick´s family especially Stella and extended family. Thank you for sharing Dr. Herrick with us at ANMC Ortho clinic even for a short period of time. Each of us that work with Dr. Herrick at ANMC have fond memories working side by side with him. My deepest condolences to Stella and extended family. I will be praying for you all during this difficult time.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Dr. Herrick at the Alaska Native Medical Center in the Orthopedic Surgery department. What an incredible, wonderful human being and gifted surgeon. He truly cared about his patients and always was extremely thoughtful in his plan of care. He wanted nothing but the best outcome for patients. He was always willing to help and was an incredible teacher. He had a "heart of gold" and it permeated every part of his being. I knew that I loved this man when he told me that he was one of the only physicians willing to see HIV/AIDS patients in the earlier years of his practice. He truly experienced Alaska during his time there and I always enjoyed hearing the stories about his adventures. It was always clear to me that he loved his wife, Stella, beyond measure. What a cute couple. He was always the picture of health to me and looked younger than his age. I was sad when he left the Alaska Native Medical Center and I am heartbroken that he has left this world. However, I know that his goodness and example will live on in all of the people lucky enough to have been in his presence. God speed, Dr. Herrick. You will be missed.

Dick was president of our senior class when we graduated in '63. He was good man and a friend that backed you up when he said he would. I didn't see much of him until he and Stella moved to St Pete and when I visited my mother near there we could get together for dinner and chat a bit. Once I had problems with my knee while in Florida and although he didn't work with that body joint he did his best to fix me up and relieve the pain. He was a giver.
His passing is a shock and I send my condolences to Stella and all the family. It is good to have known him.

Dick Herrick was one of those kids we all looked up to in high school. I was a few years behind him at Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, West Virginia. His family was the Best of the Best and I considered them my friends. I´m so sorry for all his family, especially Anita, Chris, Tim, Jan and Chuck. He was taken much too soon. I am heartbroken for the Herrick Family. I have nothing but good things to say about them. So very, very sorry for your loss. Bill and Helen Herrick gave our community something special in their family.

Stella and family,
I am so very sorry to learn of Dick´s passing. He was a good man and a good surgeon. I enjoyed our years together at Tampa Bay Orthopaedic Specialists, and I also enjoyed running into him regularly at the gym. May his memory be for a blessing, and may you all be comforted during this most difficult time.
I am so sorry that I will be overseas in early March, but I will be thinking of him and of your family.

I remember well looking up to Dick Herrick when I was a student at his alma mater, Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, West Virginia. He was one of those kids who set a high bar for underclass students, inspiring all to do and be better. Several of his younger siblings I consider friends who shared Dick´s same outstanding qualities. We must acknowledge the role played by their parents as well. A finer family our little town could not boast. My deepest sympathies to Anita, Chris, Chuck, Tim, Jan and the rest of Dick´s loved ones.

Dick and I graduated from high school together in 1963. He was a good friend and although we lost contact over the years I always looked forward to seeing him at our class reunions. Dick accomplished a great deal in his life but he seldom talked about himself. His focus was always family, friends and faith. I´m grateful to have known him and proud to call him friend. My condolences to the family. God bless you all. Rick Blair
