Richard H. Kitzmann

Richard H. Kitzmann, 80, Mankato, died Wednesday, May 15, at his home. He was born July 6, 1927, at Elmore, MN to Rev. Otto J. And Priscilla Kitzmann. Baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore by his father. He graduated from Elmore H.S. and served in the U.S. Navy in 1945-46. He married Mary Zierke at Elmore. He was an educator at the High School, Technical College and University level and retired from Wisconsin State Department of Education. He received undergraduate degrees from Mankato State College and graduate degrees from University of Wisconsin Madison, WI. He enjoyed leading his bible study at his church. A service of victory over death will be celebrated at Our Savior‚s Lutheran Church, Mankato on Tuesday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. Internment will be at Riverview Cemetery at Elmore. Survivors include daughters Rebecca, California, Julie, California, sons Thomas, California, and John (Elizabeth), Wisconsin; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brothers Otto (June) Stewartville, MN; Paul (Alice) Zumbrota, MN; Frank (Beverly) St. Clair, MN; Lowell (Donna) Bangor, WI; Rev. Merle (Lois), Mankato, MN; sister, Mrs. Paul (Lois) Howe, Texas; and a number of nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Otto (Priscilla) Kitzmann, one brother, Delbert and his wife, Mary (Zierke) of 54 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Lutheran Hour Ministries, Concordia Seminary St. Louis, MO, or to the donor’s choice.
