Family-Placed Death Notice

Richard L. Sauder, of Roswell, GA, died September 30, 2004 at his Roswell home. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, the youngest son of Dr. Howard R. and Lodema Burkholder Sauder. They, along with three elder brothers, Howard, David and William preceded him in death. He was married for 43 years to Lorraine Oles Sauder of Ridgewood, New Jersey. He is also survived by a son, Phillip Scott, and a daughter, Sandra Lee, who with husband Dave Orr, have four sons: Tyler, Andrew, Chris and Brian. Mr. Sauder was a distinguished military and academic graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics awarded in 1960. He subsequently received a Masters of Science Degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. The one other degree "self proclaimed" is DDS for "DAM'IT DON'T SMOKE!!" Professionally, he served thirty years with Southern Railway subsequently Norfolk Southern Corporation. Hired as a Junior Computer Engineer and promoted to Director of Operation Research, in which position he and his staff were responsible for computer simulation of major operating conditions including a major program to assist train dispatchers moving traffic in optimal fashion. Upon retirement he created Sauder Enterprises, a wholly owned company involved in Wallpaper installation. Mr. Sauder was highly involved in liturgical music. He was a baritone soloist with the St. David's Episcopal Church in Roswell since mid-1975. Because of this involvement, the Memorial Service for Mr. Sauder will be held Saturday, October 9, at 2pm at St. David's Episcopal Church, 1050 Old Roswell Road, Roswell, will feature the St. David's organ and choir in a progression of Heavy requiem to uplifting anthems. All are invited to attend. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall. The Sauder family will greet visitors on Friday evening October 8, from 7 to 9 pm at the Roswell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Portsbridge Hospice, 1400 Buford Highway, Ste. D-2 Sugar Hill, GA 30518 and the St. David's Episcopal Church Music fund. club and he and his group had just

won or come in second and he had the

So sorry to hear of Mr. Sauder's homegoing. It was a pleasure to meet him and his wife, Lorraine, and her Dad when we delivered a chair to them a couple of months ago. May God give you strength and comfort in the days and years to come.
