Richard Schimanski Obituary

ASHEBORO- Richard Lee Schimanski, 56, of 2287 Lambert Drive, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at High Point Regional Hospital.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russ Ward officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Glen Cemetery in Paxton, Ill.

Mr. Schimanski was born in Peoria, Ill., on Dec. 12, 1949, to Ralph and Erma Schimanski. He was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Schimanski in 1990. He graduated from Paxton High School in 1968. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Western Illinois University in 1972, where he was a three year letterman in football. He was a member of the TKE fraternity and WIU Lettermans Club. Mr. Schimanski was in insurance sales. He worked with Bankers Life and National Home Life after college graduation until 1992, where he won many honors in sales. In 1993 he established his own insurance business in Asheboro.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Cagle Schimanski, of the home; father Ralph G. Schimanski of Paxton, Ill.; sister Joanna Bayles and husband Scott, of Loda Ill.; stepdaughter, Rhonda Cagle Cashwell and husband, Jim, of Charlotte; step grandchildren, Joshua Cashwell, Jared Cashwell, Jacob Cashwell, Rachel Cashwell and Rebekah Cashwell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
