Rick was my friend in my high school days when he lived across the street from Bill (William) Conroy on Arch Avenue, Greensburg. Pa. What I remember about Rick was his high spirit and energy as a kid. He
alway had a positive attitude about him. I can still see his youthful face in my mind's eye. I got into weightlifting as a sport at the time and once he borrowed the set of weights from me. I think he said he was going to use them to build up to participate in track (?). After a while he returned them to me with a bright new coat of gold paint on them that he and is dad applied. I was really impressed. I remember that Rick, Bill Bush and Bill Conroy did a lot of things together at that time. We used to sit and talk on Bill Conroy's porch a lot and talk about the events in our lives. Later after college I traveled down from Cheyenne, WY to Denver to visit my old friend Rick. He was just getting out of the service at the time. I know Bill Conroy was in the service in Arizona (?) and he was present too. He and Bill were still close. I loved the mountains of Colorado (always a rockhound) but the two of them couldn't wait to get back East. I was taken back by that fact. He and his wife had just had a baby at the time. It was years later that I had heard that he lost both of them in a terrible auto accident. I never saw Rick again after that time. My condolences to his wife and family. I know that he will be remembered as a wonderful person as I once knew him.
