Ricky Eskew Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2025.
Ricky Shane Eskew, 54, passed away on May 25, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas

after a long, hard-fought battle with Leiomyosarcoma. Born on January 8,

1971, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, Ricky brought laughter and warmth to

those around him throughout his life.

Ricky proudly served his country as an Army reservist from 1991 to 1999. His

dedication to service reflected a deep sense of duty and commitment that

remained with him throughout his life.

A man of many passions, Ricky was an avid dart player who twice achieved

the distinction of FWDA City Singles Champion. He also enjoyed playing

softball and had a lifelong love for history and military-themed shows and

movies. His enthusiasm for these interests was matched only by his vibrant

personality-he was known for being funny and a jokester, always ready with

a quick wit or playful remark that could brighten any room.

Ricky's family was central to his life. He is lovingly remembered by his wife

Carol; his children Ean Eskew and Jo Hummel; his sisters Tamala Mowery of

Moorefield, WV and her husband Gary, along with their children Floyd

"Casper" Cutright and Tanya Jack-Smith; Lisa Eskew of Fort Worth, TX and

her son Christopher; and his brother Lyle J Eskew of Buckhannon, WV and

wife Faye with their daughter Courtney. He is also remembered by his

stepfather Pearson "Skip" Cole; and many extended family members including

aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends who will miss

him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Eskew and Charlotte Cole; his

sister Annette Eskew; his 3 infant brothers, Lyle Damon Eskew Jr., Daniel

Lynn Eskew, and Joseph Smith Eskew; and nephew Curt Cutright.

Ricky's legacy lives on in the memories shared by those who knew him-

memories filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the unmistakable presence of

someone who never failed to bring joy into the lives of others. May his

memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

I worked with Ricky's mother n sister at Pizza Hut . We all lived in the trailer park. I remember him as a young man , it had to be 1984 so long ago. Rest in peace , Ricky and my condolences to the family.
