Mr. Brain probably single handedly changed and shaped my teenaged life. A tremendous role model and always someone who I could go to when I needed a pick me up. He was probably the biggest reason I survived high school. I think about you all the time and am very thankful to have been one of your students. My condolences go out to your family in this very difficult time. God Bless!

Very sorry for your loss. Bob,, or as I called him Mr Brain taught me physed and fitness at PDHS from 1981 - 1984. I still remember how he used to be right there with us doing his famous "fitness test".. pushups, situps, chin-ups, heel raise etc. Always made us want to do more as we didn't want to teacher to beat us,, which he did on several occasions... Great man, Great teacher....

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Brain's passing. He was my Science teacher at Paris District High, he was the best teacher I ever had and I will always remember him. He believed in me at a time when no one else did. He took the time to not only lecture, but listen too. His lectures were about life and made sense and he spoke to me with respect, I would get in trouble on purpose sometimes just so I could get a lecture from him. He finally told me that I could just come and talk to him, I didn't have to get myself into trouble first!
I will never forget Mr. Brain walking around the Science classroom tapping his pencil on his chest. He was so in shape that it was loud enough it was distracting during tests and exams.
I remember Mr. Brain telling me that his wife had passed away and how he took care of his children, including running them to various activities and also helping his mother with the upkeep on her house. I was so inspired by him, being a single parent, all that he did for his family and working full time too! He was an amazing man and I have thought of him often over the years. I am thankful for having the opportunity to learn so much from him, academically but moreso about life; the power of perseverance and overcoming the tough times. He had a huge and positive impact in my life and I am forever grateful.
I can't even imagine how much his family and friends will miss him. RIP Mr. Brain, the World has lost an amazing Man!

Being a former student of PDHS I had the honour of knowing this cool guy. He had the type of personality that just made you feel better after talking to him, always had his humour. I specifically remember one day in particular asking him if he would like a puppy (Dob/Shepherd/Husky) as the dog (Doberman/German Shepherd mix) we had had a litter of 6. There were a couple of pups that actually had one brown and one blue eye...they were so adorable! I always wondered what he had named it and from time to time how he made out with him/her.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear that Bob had passed away. I met Bob when I was a first year teacher at Flesherton District High School. His friendship and guidance got me through that year as he taught me all the things they don't tell you at the College of Education! I shall remember Bob for his beautiful smile, quick wit, keen sense of humour and
up-beat spirit. He was a remarkable man of many talents. My condolences to all the family and I shall remember him always in my prayers.

Dearest Angie, Rob, Rebecca, Richard, Roslyn and all the grandchildren. We are deeply saddened by Bob's death. Our condolences go out to all of you. It is sad to lose a loved one. Like you, we have wonderful memories of Bob's adventurous road trips, his sense of humour, his generosity and his great love for family. We had the pleasure of his hospitality when we visited your lovely family home. We were truly honoured to have him and Angie overnight with us in Winnipeg. Bob was a kind and loving person. He looked forward to meeting my late mom (Angie's aunt) in Nova Scotia, who thought the world of him for making her niece happy. Though he will be missed, our cherished memories will never be forgotten.

" A great teacher has little external history to record. His life goes over into other lives. These men are pillars in the intimate structure of our schools. They are more essential than its stones or beams, and they will continue to be a kindling force and a revealing power in our lives." - The Emperors Club (2002)
On behalf of all PDHS Alumni, thank you Mr Brain for your years of true leadership, inspiration & motivation. You will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Mr. Brain's passing. Mr. Brain was a teacher of mine at PDHS back in the early 80's and was one that left a mark on me. Old school teacher that demanded and gained the respect of his students. As his obituary read, he was into sports and into personal health. He set a great example for his students and drove the ones interested in the same to better themselves..............he sure did for me. The year I took his personal health class I was never in better shape than after that semester and his class requirement to run the 5.6km concession is still talked about today.
As long as you gave an effort in his class, Mr. Brain always related well and had a connection with those students.
