Robert Geiger Obituary

Published by Star Tribune from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, 2008.
Geiger, Robert Erwin age 85, of Minnetonka. Died January 29, 2008 at home with his beloved wife, Martha present. A gregarious and generous father and grandfather, Bob was a WWII veteran and trumpeter in the U.S. Army's 10th Armored Division Band. Born March 28, 1922 in Shakopee to Robert & Esther Geiger, he graduated in 1940 from Washburn High School where he excelled in track and field and met his future wife, Martha Jane Kennon. Bob graduated from the University of Minnesota before enlisting in the Army. The couple was married February 22, 1946 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mpls. Soon after, Bob began working six day work weeks, selling cars manufactured by Ford Motor Company. Many family members and relatives trusted in Bob's auto expertise to help fill their driveways and garages with the car's blue oval "Ford" insignias. Known for his sense of humor and love of life, Bob displayed a generous and caring spirit to all those he knew and helped. A longtime member of St. George's Episcopal Church in St. Louis Park, he was a dedicated mainstay of the church choir. He loved big band era music and had a great appreciation of and sense for music. In retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time at the family's lake cabin near Brainerd with his family. His presence will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Martha; daughters, Nancy Geiger (Robert King) of Eden Prairie and Julie Geiger (Mike Gelfand) of St. Louis Park; son, Robert Kennon Geiger (Gail Feichtinger) of Mpls; 3 grandsons, Jake, Max and Sam Gelfand; 2 granddaughters, Alexandra and Elena Geiger and special family friend, Sarah Hreha. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's memory are preferred to the church or the charity of donor's choice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM at St. George's Episcopal Church, 5224 Minnetonka Blvd., St. Louis Park with a gathering for friends and family one hour before the service. Private interment Mission Township Cemetery, Merrifield in more clement weather. Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel 952-920-3996

I worked with Bob at the Ford dealership on lake street,I was in school and worked there part time, I thought a lot of Bob he was always a positive person, always smiling, just this last summer he called me to express his condolences on the passing of my Mother, He was always so very thoughtful.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
May God Rest His Soul!

God Bless Bob Geiger! He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. I cannot forget "Boink a Boink" and "I Love Parade" and all the times we tried to pull each others neck ties out of our collars.
I am greatful for Bob puting light on Auto sales and still having integrity in the way he did business.
A true inspiration.
