Robert Giesen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2024.
Robert William Giesen, known affectionately as Bob or Bobby, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 81 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Born on July 14, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska, Bob led a life marked by versatility, skill, and a profound love for adventure.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, completing two tours of duty. His military career was distinguished by his role as a helicopter pilot and aviation inspector, skills that not only demonstrated his technical prowess but also his dedication and bravery.

Following his military service, Bob transitioned his focus to various trades, including working as a tile and carpet setter and later in operations and maintenance for DCSD. His hands-on skills were unmatched, a testament to his ability to master and teach any craft he pursued.

Bob's hobbies were as expansive and vibrant as his personality. An avid enthusiast of flying, boating, fishing, and building-be it cars, boats, or planes-he also found joy in the intricate art of wood carving, particularly of gun stocks. His talents extended to camping, painting, and drawing, reflecting his artistic spirit and love for the outdoors.

Bob was the life of the party, known for his ability to fix anything and teach anyone. His favorite moments were spent boating and fishing at Lake McConaughey, where he shared his passion and joy with friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife Lanee; daughters Jori and Beckie; son Robert Giesen Jr; stepdaughter Desri and son in law Josh; sister Judy Coil; brother Mike; grandchildren Casey,Teddy,Chance and Skylar; step grandchildren Alexis and Caden and his beloved dog Kiki. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon; brothers Johnny and Karl; and his parents, Robert Giesen Sr and Mary Jo.

Friends and family are invited to attend all services. A military honors burial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 10 AM on September 12, 2024, followed by a celebration of life at the VFW Post 9644 at 2 PM on the same day.
