Funeral service for Robert Harold Holland, 85, of Decatur will be Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin Holland and Dr. Ben Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour and a half prior to the funeral.

Mr. Holland, who died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at his home, was born September 25, 1925, in Geneva to Henry Ashley Holland and Anibel Neidhamer Holland. He was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and was a deacon for many years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific theatre as a Seabee. He was an electrical instructor at the Tennessee Valley State Vocational Trade School (now Calhoun Community College) and was founder and owner of Holland Electric, Inc. He served on the Alabama Electrical Contractors Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Henry Ashley Holland, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Charles Culpepper Holland; three sons, Robert Ashley Holland (Linda), Julian Wesley Holland (Kathy) and Gary Wayne Holland (Teri), all of Somerville; one sister, Margaret Emma Daughtry of Hartford; eight grandchildren, Amanda Anderson, Leslie Mendoza (Luis), Josh (Bree), Andrew, Bret, Chad, Christopher (Amanda) and Benjamin (Jennifer); and two great-grandchildren, Sophie Crowley and Nash Mendoza.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideons International.
