Robert “Butch” Cleo Irwin passed away on the afternoon of March 7, 2023 in The Woodlands, Texas at the age of 76.
Robert was born on September 21, 1946, to Patrick Cleo and Ida Bell Irwin in Spur, Texas. He grew up in Lovington, New Mexico where he raised his three girls, Kim, Karen, and Kandyce. He eventually settled in his permanent home in Spring, Texas in 2001.
Robert was a police officer, county sheriff, and detective for more than 30 years. He loved serving his community. He enjoyed attending church, spending time with family, camping, and coin collecting. He had a passion for photography with his favorite subjects being his family, nature and sunsets. He was always chasing the best shot of a full moon or the perfect sunset.
His best times were spent when he was in nature among the trees and animals, especially the squirrels.
When spending time with family and friends he always had a story to tell and most of all a new joke to tell or a prank to pull. Most conversations would start “have you heard the one about….”. He loved a good barbeque or crawfish boil. The larger the gathering the happier he was.
With having three daughters and being a police officer, he made sure to be protective, but raised them to be independent. There were many weekends of quail hunting, shooting lessons at the gun range, teaching how to change a tire and his private self-defense courses.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Cleo Irwin, mother, Ida Bell Irwin, and brother, Mack Alton “Bill” Irwin who he can now be reunited with in Heaven.
Robert is survived by his sister, Patricia Bell Butler and his three girls – first daughter, Kimberly Ann Granath and husband, Glenn, of Spring, TX, middle daughter, Karen Lynn Adamek and husband, Phil, of Bay Center, WA, and third daughter, Kandyce Mishelle Irwin, of Spring, TX. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren – Keeley Nicole Gallo and husband, Stephen, Kanon Michael Adamek and wife, Callie, Kasey Jaron Irwin and wife, Stephanie, Kassidy Gene Adamek, Kerby Glenn Granath, Kooper Lynn Adamek and wife, Haley, and Kole Jacob Irwin-Mieuli. He is survived by his 8 great grandchildren, Declan Lucas Irwin, Ari Finn Gallo, Klover Sunshine Adamek, Klementine Sandra Adamek, Julian Patrick Irwin, Evyn Rose Gallo, Ivy Louise Irwin, and Kaiser Michael Adamek.
A private service will be held at a later date.
