Robert Pennington Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 18, 2025.
Robert Randolph Pennington Sr. (Bob Pennington) passed away peacefully at his home in Crawfordville, Florida on December 26, 2024. He was 70 years old. Bob was born on January 21, 1954 to parents James and Janice Pennington. Bob began his engineering career at the Nashville Bridge Company in the 1970s and concluded it at Trinity Marine Products in 2020.

Throughout his life Bob has played and written country music in Nashville. Once a writer at Warner Brother, he has written with some of the most successful writers in the business. Bob also managed a top ten act for CBS Records and helped develop acts appearing at venues from Austin City Limits to the CMA Awards.

Aside from music, Bob's other passions were fishing and playing golf.

Bob was a compass in people's lives and always had good advice and comforting words. He was often the smartest person in the room but even more so often the happiest in the room. He always had a joke to tell you to make you smile. Bob had many friends and was loved by many.

Bob will be greatly missed and remembered with love.

Bob is survived by his wife Linda Pennington, his son Rob, daughters Julia, Jennifer and Jessica, grandson Cade, and granddaughters Abigail and Emmie.

My dad liked to listen to birds. Squeaky wings (doves), whippoorwills, killdeer, barred owls. I was small, maybe 9, he dug up sassafras root for me. And I kept it like a treasure. He had joy for nature and passed that on to me. I will miss his laugh and good hugs.

Bob and I met some 10 years or so ago as members of the International Songwriters Guild. We became very close and started writing some great songs together. Our crowning achievement was "Think Pink" recorded by Tammy Cochran that was in honor of breast cancer awareness. We spoke at least 3-4 times a week when we weren´t writing then even still after he retired from Arcosa and moved to FL. We were the best of friends and I miss not speaking to him. Hard to imagine he´s no longer in this world with us. Prayers to Linda and all his family and I love you and miss you like crazy brother. My life is much better bc you were a part of it

I represented a company that put level gauging on barges. Every time I visited the shipyard I would make sure to stop in Bob´s office. We became friends over the years. He is a good man and we often talked engineering , song wringing and the panhandle of Florida. He always made time for my visit. Iprayfor his family and friends who will miss him deeply. God bless you Bob and your family´s and friends.

I´ve never could´ve asked for a better big brother. Over the past several years he and I grew closer and closer and I loved him with all my heart. My condolences go out to his children and grandchildren and his beautiful wife Linda, who I always have thought of as a sister. Bob did his best to protect me all my life and I learned a lot from him. He was a very intelligent man and very compassionate man. I miss him terribly. I miss those conversations about Vanderbilt football and basketball and baseball and he always love them. he would´ve been proud of the football team this year and I know he was looking down and with a smile on his face as they won the Birmingham bowl. He will always be in my heart, and I will always think of him happily. If his kids or grandkids or Linda ever need anything all they have to do is call and I will try to do what I can to help them. God bless Bob. I know he´s in heaven with my wife, Peggy who I lost five years ago. May his spirit always be with all of us. I love you, Bob and I miss you. From your brother John.

There was never a time I was with him that he didn´t pull me aside with some sort of funny story or joke! He always made it feel like we were the only ones in on it... he had a way of making me feel important and special
I´ll miss you, Bob

He helped me more than he ever could have known. Whether it was a fishing trip or just showing me how fix something around the house. He was always there. Always positive. Always optimistic. He knew this world wasn´t forever. One of his favorite things to say to me was "It´s just temporary" he was right.....he had a good time in this temporary world and made a lot of friends and made a lot of people happy. I love him and they´ll never be another one like him. Love, Rob
