Robert Scholz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 3 to May 4, 2023.
Robert H. Scholz (Bob), age 71, of Etna, Ohio, our beloved husband, father, grandfather "Pa", and friend has gone to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He fought a short, difficult battle with lung cancer. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is in heaven with no more pain, knowing only the joy of God the Father. "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." John 5:24

Bob was born in Chicago Heights, IL on February 15, 1952. He married Pat in November 1982. Through his work, they had the privilege of living in 4 different states and in England. The family enjoyed many trips to various European countries. It is also where Bob and Pat found the true meaning of God's salvation through Jesus Christ. He was a loyal employee of Plastic Suppliers for almost 40 years. Bob and Pat enjoyed many short-term mission trips to Kosova and upon his retirement they lived there for 3 years as missionaries. While there, he used his love of sports to reach out to youth showing them the love of God. They continued to have adventures to several eastern European nations. Bob was an avid runner and played softball up until 3 weeks before his passing. He currently was the Commissioner for the Over 70's softball league in Columbus. He has joyously coached middle & high school girls' softball teams and loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and other activities. Anyone who knew him knew he was a very loyal CUBS fan! He loved the outdoors which included deep sea fishing with his buddy, Walt, for several years and hiking in nature with Pat. He cherished going to the family cabin with friends, youth groups, their adult kids, and especially the grandchildren. Bob was truly a humble, kind, caring & generous man who loved his family and friends well.

He is survived by his devoted wife Pat, daughter Lynzi D. Scholz, sons Andy (Amy) Scholz and Matt (Lindsey) Scholz, and grandchildren Zach, Belle, Natalie, Lily, Kreuz, Otto, Dex, Brooks, and Slater, "adopted Kosovar grandson" Leke Bytyqi, brothers Wes, Jim (Tracey), Albert (Peggy), sister Juanita, sister-in-law Diane, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert & Betty Scholz, his in-laws James & Rosemary Kreuzer, brother Dean, brother-in-law Michael and sisters-in-law Nancy Kreuzer and Mary Kreuzer.

A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held at Madison Christian Church, 3565 Bixby Rd, Groveport, OH 43125 on Saturday, May 13. Visitation at 3:00 pm, with a Service to follow at 5:00 pm. Please join the family for a meal after the service.

In lieu of flowers consider donating to: "Cru" or "Campus Crusade for Christ", P.O. Box 628222, Orlando, FL 32862-8222. (Please include on a separate slip of paper the Cru staff members - Hysen & Esmeralda Kanani #2812954, with a note "in memory of Bob Scholz.")

Your kindness, support, and effortless encouragement during Cross Country was touching to my daughter, Kaniya. She spoke so highly of Coach Bob and always felt great and accomplished after your compliments and leadership. Truly a loss to MCS and family <3

Wonderful memorable time on holiday in Ohio and fantastic trips to the cabin where you were the host with the most Bob. Campfires, laughter songs, friendship shared and never forgotten. Rest in the peace and grace of your Lord Jesus Christ now and forever more.
