Robert S. Whitelaw, Sr., 82, of Hiawassee, formerly of Tucker, died Monday, November 15, 2004. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with Dr. Don Pratt, Rev. Peggy Ray, and Rev. Ralph Easterwood officiating. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004 at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, Hiawassee, with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating. A native of Kingman, Kansas, Mr. Whitelaw was an attorney. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII, a member of Glenwood Hills Masonic Lodge #703 F.&A.M., and was a longtime volunteer with the Salvation Army. He was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church and was active in the senior adult choir. Survivors include wife, Dorothy Whitelaw, Hiawassee; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Tommy Bell, Auburn; sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert S. Whitelaw, Jr., Atlanta, James R. and Cathy Whitelaw, Lawrenceville; grandchildren, James and Tina Whitelaw, Stockbridge, Robert and Michelle Whitelaw, Tucker, J. Christopher Whitelaw, New York, NY, B. Anderson Whitelaw, Knoxville, TN, Jennifer and Jay Samonsky, Boca Raton, FL, Richrd and Kathy Bridges, Dougulasville, Melissa and David Shaesser, St. Augustine, FL; great-grandchildren, Maggie Whitelaw, Forrest Bridges, Eizabeth Parker, Michael, William and Savannah Shaesser; step-children, Billy and Lynn Buckhalt, Stone Mountain, Gary and Debbie Thomas, Greensboro, NC, Lamar and Jordan Thomas, Athens; step-grandchildren, Eric and Lori Buckhalt, Atlanta, Jason and Celeste Jackson, Loganville, Kris and Cindy Parker, Wilmington, NC; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 84 Church Street, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
