Robert Joseph Yedlosky, 76, of Route 8, Fairmont passed away Saturday (March 8, 2008) at his home with his family by his side. He was born Feb. 5, 1932, in Morgantown, a son of the late Joseph Martin and Eloise Perrine Yedlosky.Robert was a self-employed geologist and petroleum engineer for over 50 years. He owned MERT Development and Talent Oil Co. and most recently was a consulting geologist. His book, “Petroholic,” portrays his desire to educate others about his life’s work as a “Rock Doctor.”He was a loving, generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed fishing with his family, teaching and playing music and journalizing family memories through his photography. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Jewel City Church in Shinnston.Robert is survived by two daughters, Pamela DeBarr of Laurel Point and Joyce Yedsosky of Fairmont; two sons, Joe Yedlosky and wife Kim of North Carolina and Franklin Scott Yedlosky of Fairmont; two sisters, Patricia Faber of Petersburg, Va., and Betsy Jane Yedlosky of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Joshua Foy, Tonya DeBarr, Jackson Steinbrecher, Christian Steinbrecher, Brittany Yedlosky, Lindsay Yedlosky, Cole Yedlosky, Alyson Gatrell, Joseph Yedlosky and Katie Yedlosky; and one great-grandson, Dakota Matthews.His wife, Myrtle Joyce Yedlosky, preceded him in death.Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home in Westover from 6-8 p.m. today and on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McCulla Funeral Home with Scott Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post No. 9916 and the West Virginia National Guard at Camp Dawson. A celebration of his life will follow at the Triune-Hallack fire hall and online condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected].

We are sorry to hear of Bob's death. We had lost touch with him for a while. It is a shame that we hadn't checked up on him. We apologize and want you to know that although we didn't see him often, he will be missed in the neighborhood.

Family,
You have our sympathies and our prayers during this time of loss and grieving. I know that your father will be deeply missed.
It was a deliteful priviledge to share time in the hospital with such an interesting soul.
