FAIRFIELD < Roberta Bruce Watson, 95, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at La Mariposa Care and Rehab Center.
Roberta was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Bessmer, Ala., to David and Vice Jack. She spent most of her childhood years in New Kensington, Pa.
Roberta moved to New York City in 1935, where she worked as a typist for the National Bureau of Economic Service for more than 30 years.
She loved New York City and the arts and theater. She loved acting and writing, with poems and a book published. She also did acting in off-Broadway plays, many TV commercials and small parts in movies.
After her retirement in 1978, she moved to Fairfield.
She is survived by her son, Norman Bruce of Fairfield; grandchildren, Norman Bruce Jr., Valtine Houge, Robert Bruce and Patricia Bruce; nephews, Larry Jack, Michael Jack and Wayne Jack; nieces, Gloria Jack, Shelia Jack and Barbara Jack; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, followed by a Catholic prayer service at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery, 1707 Union Ave., Fairfield.
The family has asked that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to the American Diabetes Association, 631 Howard St., Suite 520, San Francisco. The family also gives special thanks to the La Mariposa Care and Rehab Center for its incredible support.
