Rod Evans Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun on Jan. 16, 2007.

EVANS _ Rod Stuart born January 4, 1920 passed away gently on January 13, 2007 surrounded by family after a short struggle trying to regain health after his accident and subsequent heart attack on November 29, 2006. He is survived by his brother Harley and sons, Colin and Normon and daughter Katherine. He has 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Born in Toronto he and his family moved to Vancouver shortly after. He served in the Canadian Airforce during WW II. After the war he married Cora Sparkes (1947). Cora passed away May 2006. His passions were boats, skiing and bicycling. He inspired his children and grandchildren to continue this love of mountains and the sea. The family would like to thank Dr. Tugnotti and the wonderful nursing staff at the UBC hospital of Ward 2C for all their assistance and love they gave our father. Funeral services will be held at the Columbia Bowell Funeral Chapel on Thursday January 18 at 1:00 pm.

My fondest memory of my Dad was when we would sit looking over the Fraser River together as he told me about his childhood. Although we spent much time skiing, biking and swimming together, the last few years just sitting and talking will be the most cherished.
