I was a student of Mr. Wilcox in the 1970s. My brother and I both played trumpet and took private lessons with him. He was one of the adults who most had an influence on me and I've always been grateful for all he did. In addition to being a great teacher, he was a friend who was interested in the welfare of his students. He certainly had a positive impact on generations of students.

To the family of Mr. Wilcox:
I am a prior student of Mr. Wilcox's. He inspired me like many others to continue there future in music. My eighth grade year he did our spring concert, and he said that it would be his last concert. Me and my fellow students were honored to be the last group he would conduct at Colonial Heights Middle School. It was the year that the movie "The Titanic" came out. We begged to do that theme song for our spring concert. He often said, he like to do old classics, but Mr. Wilcox said alright, and we got to do it!! It turned out wonderful.
I use to see him every once in awhile around Colonial Heights he always rememberd us-- all of us!! He would say "Jeri" hows it going these days? He was the only teacher I think I would let get by calling me that(my first name)!!
He was an awesome teacher, and inspired me to continue threw to high shcool band. I am sure that there are many others he has inspired as well. I use to love to hear the upper classman tell the Mr. Wilcox stories. When we get together we still tell Mr. Wilcox stories!! He would always say this is a "Mallox Moment" guys!!! We would hehe haw every time he would say that!! I hope my memories of Mr. Wilcox bring you company during your time of loss. I wish the warmest memories be at your families side threw the days ahead.
