Rose Elizabeth Messersmith

Rose Elizabeth Gentry Messersmith, 84 years old of Sanford, Florida died at Central Florida Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 24th, 2013. She was born August 27th, 1928 in Booneville, Warrick County, Indiana to Alvis and Hattie Gentry. She was dscharged from the Navy with Honors. While in the Navy she met and married her husband of 60 years, Laverne Messersmith on December 9th, 1952. She was a homemaker and loved living the military life. She moved to Sanford, Florida in August of 1970. She was a member of the Sanford Garden Club and an avid bowler for many years. She is survived by her husband Laverne Messersmith, her children, Lynn Portwood (Frank) of Anderson, Indiana, Bud Messersmith (Ruth) of Debary, Florida, Kelly Lee (Mark) of Geneva, florida, her grandchildren, Michael Selg, Marc Selg , Frank Portwood, Taylor Messersmith Hudspeth, Justin Payne, Amanda Lee and 6 great-grandchildren, Alyssa Selg, Alexander Selg, Alexis Selg, Marc Selg Jr., Layna Payne, and Kaydence Payne. Graveside Services will be held at Glen Haven memorial Park, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park, FL 32789 on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 10:00 A.M.
