OBITUARY - RUSSELL Eugene ANEN - 09/19/42 - 01/01/25

Russell Eugene Anen "Russ", 82 passed away peacefully at his home in Citrus Springs, Florida surrounded by his family.

Born in Orange, New Jersey to Eugene Anen and Ethel (Deckenbach) Anen, he was one of seven children. After marrying his wife, Carol he moved to Roseland, New Jersey to raise his family. He worked in many trades and for most of his work life owned and operated a tree service business. He proudly served his community as a volunteer Auxiliary Police Officer with the Roseland Police Department.

He had a tremendous love for music and played guitar and sang beautiful songs that filled any room he was in. He was an avid reader and historian, Voltaire and political philosopher Thomas Paine were favorites. If he didn't know the answer to a question, you could be sure he knew it the next time someone asked it. His love of learning was endless.

He took his family on the trip of a lifetime traveling to Europe for an entire summer finding adventure and culture in every country around every turn.

He and Carol moved to Florida in the early 90s and enjoyed many years of fishing, free diving, snorkeling and swimming. He loved the adventures found underwater in the beautiful Florida Springs and swimming with the manatees.

He leaves behind his wife Carol of 58 years, three daughters, Donna Critchley (Robert Critchley), Patty Fox (Jim Fox) and Gail Hernandez (Ed Hernandez). He was predeceased by his son John Anen and his daughter Lynnette Payne. He was the loving grandfather to Chris Hernandez, Amanda Hernandez, James Fox and Connor Fox and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
